LGP X2 - The Threat v1.4 (BETA 1) Benchmarks Wednesday, January 04, 2006 @ 08:57:50 AST by meshal (962 reads) |
When we had heard that X2 - The Threat would finally be
ported over to Linux from the talented folks at LGP (Linux Game Publishing) we
were simply ecstatic. However, now that the first BETA of the game has reached
its closed testing community we are even more rhapsodic. With the game still in
development stages, there are of course a few bugs but many of these gaming
volunteers have found poor frame-rate performance with their various systems.

HEXUS.feature - Linux Gaming. Saturday, March 05, 2005 @ 05:42:05 AST by meshal (867 reads) | Getting lost in Acton, with two suitcases full of expensive kit, in
the dark, isn't fun. Especially when you've been carrying the heavy kit about on
the train and tube for an hour and a half. However, that is how I, with my
expert navigational skills, found myself at 10 PM on Friday night, headed for
the Intel Bloodline
LAN somewhere in the local area. I teamed up with HEXUS.net forum regular
mgh0 who had just arrived at a nearby tube stop, and with our unerring combined
sense of direction, we made it to Black Island Studios, just off the A40.
I was going to Intel/Jolt Bloodline for the proper LAN experience - poor eating,
sleeping & hygiene arrangements; a room full of sweaty Counter-Strike players;
and playing games into the small hours - but I had one little... eccentricity...
to my arrangements:

Revisiting Linux GPUs: Playing the Driver Game. Saturday, January 01, 2005 @ 13:53:34 AST by meshal (965 reads) | anandtech.com:
Most Windows gamers felt the height of the driver wars between NVIDIA and ATI about 18 months ago - driver "optimizations", rushed releases and performance fluctuation. Linux remained relatively untouched during this process, getting an update once every 4 or 5 months with only the minimum enhancements. It looks, however, that things are about to change - and very soon. When NVIDIA and ATI both released their newest Linux drivers within a couple of days of each other, we started to get the feeling that there was some healthy competition brewing. However, memories of rushed-to-release drivers haunt us - and we hope that trend hasn't spilled over into Linux.

Does Linux Have Game? Friday, December 31, 2004 @ 04:03:20 AST by meshal (909 reads) | tomshardware.com :
Earlier this year, our Linux Comes to the Desktop article caused a stir, when we stated that gaming on a Linux platform remained a limited proposition. Now it is time to detail why this is the case. We will explore what is the best you can hope for when you opt for the penguin to play Unreal and Doom III. We will also look at why Linux lovers must be contented with the state of things -- for the time being, that is, because things are looking up for the Linux gaming crowd.
