As we announced last week, Doom 3 for Linux is now available and now the questions are flying about how well it runs. These questions include issues about which card you'll need to play the game, which quality you will be able to run at with different cards, and how well the game runs under Linux verses Windows. We aim to answer these questions in this article with our look Doom 3 under Linux. We analyze Doom 3 with four generations of NVIDIA hardware. Why no ATI? Because it's not supported by id at this point for the Linux port. Now let's get into the numbers behind id's latest game and show what a week's worth of benchmarking produces.
