That's right, the first 2.6(.21.5) based Slackware release is ready for download! We think you'll enjoy the latest kernel, KDE 3.5.7, XFce 4.4.1, HAL automounting for desktop users, an updated toolchain, and many other enhancements. The official announcement has more details. Also, consider supporting the project at http://store.slackware.com. Thanks to everyone who contributed improvements and fixes this time -- a lot of help made this a relatively smooth release.

Thanks, and enjoy!

Pat and the Slackware team

I had pretty high expectations for Fedora Core 6 and in some ways they were met. FC 6 certainly is one of the best looking distro’s I have seen, especially for a default installation. Yet, several smaller issues crept into FC 6 that made me wonder how prepared this release was for final release. The problems that I encountered with Fedora Core 6 were not huge issues, but there were enough smaller bugs that made me wonder if this release was rushed.

We are proud to announce that Slackware Linux version 11.0 has been finally released; it took some time but is well worth the wait. You can read the official announcement at this link.

Slackware 11.0 contains the Linux kernel, in /extra and 2.6.18 in the /testing directory; the default boot option is the dependable kernel, but this time we included more choices and support for 2.6.x kernels. Read More...
